The weather was outstanding once again this year for the 2nd Annual Canadian National Kubb Championship.  Teams were gathering from all over.  Ottawa, Toronto, Quebec, Michigan, New York and Wisconsin were all represented this year.

Once the tables were set up, trophies displayed, pitches were, well, pitched, we were ready to begin.

It was a great three rounds to start off the morning.  People were talking, sharing strategies, helping each other out.  The players all seemed to be having fun all while playing their hearts out.

After lunch is when the real fun started.  The brackets were set and in the first round of the brackets we saw :

Rhymes with Tube (1)
vs.
Federal Kubb Inspectors (8)

The Kingslayers (2)
vs.
G&RSVoD – Turtle Clan (7)

Kubbigans (3)
vs.
G&RSVoD – Wolf Clan (6)

Hakubba Matata (4)
vs.
The Rubik’s Kubbs (5)

After some hard fought games, we were down to the final four.  These games would determine who would be competing for the first and second place positions and who would be competing for third and fourth.

Kubbigans (3)
vs.
Hakubba Matata (4)

After this round, we paused to do a raffle draw for two great Kubb sets supplied by Mollen Living Inc (their sets can be purchased from our website side bar on the left side of your screen).  There was both the Koob set (smaller, more portable version) as well as a full Tournament size Kubb set with duffel bag.  There were also mints available for everyone!  All money raised by the raffle was donated to the Ottawa Stray CAT Rescue charity.

The match for third place would then be fought between :

The Kingslayers (2)
vs.
Hakubba Matata (4)
(**note : match data to come from Planet Kubb soon)

This was a back and forth affair with Hakubba Matata taking the third place trophy in 2 games.

Then the finals were set to see :

Rhymes with Tube (1)
vs.
Kubbigans (3)
(**note : match data to come from Planet Kubb soon)

Some intense strategizing between these teams ended up with Rhymes with Tube clinching the first spot after some very close matches.
